2/27/2012 0 Comments Post Title.I just saw this fabulous quote and had to share it:
The most important thing I have learned over the years is the difference between taking one's work seriously and taking one's self seriously. The first is imperative, and the second disastrous. - Margot Fonteyn This puts my superiority complex into a new perspective. Superiority is fine. Just don't be an ass about it. That's all for now--goodnight!

2/21/2012 0 Comments Post Title. It's amazing how energized I am after, no matter how tired I am before hand, my weekly acting class at JoAnna Beckson Studios. It's always EXTREMELY beneficial to watch talent at work, of course, but it's also so invigorating! It's like yoga for the soul.
I'm going to give you two quotes since this is such a short post: “He who limps still walks.” ~ Stanislaw Lem “Without continuous personal development you are now all that you will ever become, and hell starts when the person you are, meets the person you could have been.” ~ Eli Cohen It's going to be a great day. 2/17/2012 0 Comments Post Title.Disappointed. Another vid out that I'm in and can't use. I know I have to put together my reel, but it's tough when you've got next-to-nothing to work with! Ok, enough kvetching. Ha--I'm not even Jewish, but it's ok. Yiddish is the secret language of all things entertainment.
I need to shoot some scenes with friends so I can build my demo reel, but first I need a DP/Camera man/Camera woman. The quest continues... Here's another great Bob Frasier quote that I feel is fitting: “The game of life is not so much in holding a good hand as playing a poor hand well.” Going to go read more of "The Man In The High Castle" now. It's a great book--definitely pick it up if you get the chance! Strange to think of how history could have developed differently... 2/11/2012 0 Comments No TitleTwo days of auditions, all for theatre. I can't wait to get back on stage, so I'll keep auditioning until I get there!
I'm super psyched about shooting a short with Comedy Joy Ride tomorrow--WOOOOOO! I'll keep y'all updated on how it went and when it'll be available for your viewership! Yes, I said "y'all." That's probably because I had to use my Southern drawl/dialect for yesterday's Orpheus Descending monologue. Gotta love Tennessee Williams! A superb quote I saw today that actually gave me the chills (comes with Meisner training--I'm especially emotionally responsive): A day dawns, quite like other days; in it, a single hour comes, quite like other hours; but in that day and in that hour the chance of a lifetime faces us. - Maltbie Babcock I hope I get home from my shoot tomorrow in time to catch the season premier of "The Walking Dead"--my favorite show! Now THAT'S a show I need to get a role on!!! Hasta la vista! 2/8/2012 1 Comment Post Title.Today's audition was spectacular! The auditors were very pleasant, and even complimentary, which is always a good sign!
More good news--I have another audition tomorrow and then another following on Friday, so I'm showing my work to a good number of people this week! Of course, I'm looking to get in front of a lot more people per day, but all in good time. I went to bed 1:30AM. I woke up 7AM. I feel INVIGORATED! I'll end on another great Bob Frasier quote: “Have you ever heard of an early rising, hard working, prudent person, careful with money and strictly honest, who complained of ‘bad luck?’" Later, gators! 2/8/2012 0 Comments Post Title.I want to learn Spanish, French, German, Russian, Chinese, Portuguese, Swahili.....and hieroglyphics. Now if only I could find the time...
Oh, and on a much more relevant note, I have a commercial audition in 10 hours! Keep your fingers crossed for me! 2/6/2012 0 Comments Post Title.Getting excited to start Meisner training with JoAnna Beckson Studios again! Yay! Until then, I'm going to read A Midsummer Night's Dream and Macbeth. ""Shakespeare" By Another Name" has put Shake-speare's works in a whole new light for me!
Another great quote: The world of achievement has always belonged to the optimist. - J. Harold Wilkins Catch you on the flip-side! Oh, "The Boondock Saints"--so many great quotes within one film... 2/4/2012 0 Comments Post Title. Two foods that it's pretty impossible to be sexy while eating:
1. Sandwiches No specific sandwiches--just sandwiches in general. Sinking your teeth into a monstrosity of bread with fillings that come toppling out when you bite down... I think you'll find a very small number of people who get-off on that. 2. Spaghetti Don't even try to say "Lady and the Tramp." It's never that clean or adorable in real life. That is all. 2/3/2012 0 Comments Post Title.I saw that Actors' Equity was holding auditions for "Detroit" and "Soap Myth" today, so I thought, "Why not go? What's the worst they could do? Tell me that they're not seeing non-Equity and tell me to leave my headshot there." Needless to say, I went, and while I couldn't audition for "Detroit" ("They're not allowed to audition non-Equity actors, but you can leave your headshot for them."), I actually got to audition for the amazing Cindi Rush (yay!) for "Soap Myth!" All in all, another good day. It's no surprise, though--I never really seem to have anything worse than a good day! Now that I think about it, I haven't had a bad day since I moved here!
On that note, I'll end with a great David Brinkley quote: “A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her.” Toodles! OMG, did I just say "toodles?" *Sigh... |
