Not a huge surprise to me, but 2014 was a pretty awesome year:

1. I acted in various projects (always a win)
2. Got to try my hand at writing (still am, for that matter)
3. Directed a short film and a scene (pretty self-explanatory)
4. Learned video editing (again, still am)
5. Tim did his first Under-5 (yay!)

As time passes, things keep getting better and better here. 2015 is going to be a marvelous year.

I seem to be recovering from the tail-end of a sinus infection. I got over the brunt of it by snorting cayenne pepper. Yeah. You could call me hardcore about getting healthy. I'm still a bit "foggy," though, so bear with me.

Had a strange but pleasant audition yesterday. When you audition frequently, you quickly notice a typical pattern in the way things are run. Every now and then, though, an audition will throw you off, sometimes positively, sometimes not-so-much. Yesterday's was positive, so I'm cool with it. It primes me up for the uncomfortably weird auditions that are sure to come.

We do that kind of thing regularly as actors. We take past situations, often awkward and uncomfortable, and turn their memories into something beautiful, or at least turn them into an art of sorts. It's sure as hell not for everyone, but I'll take it.

- Anna Kendrick

Uh on. Tim seems to be developing a sinus infection now. Not sure I'll be able to talk him into my cayenne pepper remedy...

I got to direct again this week! It's always interesting, working on both sides of the camera. Yes, I am very happy in front of the camera. It is a second "home" to me. Working behind the camera gives you a whole different perspective, though. I certainly hope directing and editing will help me be that much better of an actor, help me take my "actor blinders" off in a way. We all have them. They're necessary for getting into and staying in character. Hopefully having experiences on both sides can help me add a certain understanding to my character development, though.

June Carter Cash used to say, "I'm just trying to matter," and I definitely understand. Here's to making your mark and mattering.

I'm not going to say anything about it being December now. That'd be obnoxious, as you've probably heard it millions of times already. You're welcome.

Tim and I spent the day meeting and hanging-out with the wonderfully-talented Yul Spencer, one of the other actors booked in the film we're doing. It was fun, of course (actors are fun people, you know), plus we learned how he works. That's a major help for when we get on set. We all have our ways of getting into our acting zones, so it makes things easier when we're all on the same page. I've worked with other actors who prep for a scene like I do (a huge plus!), and I've worked with others who prep in different ways. No judgment on the latter, of course. It's just that I know I have to go get myself amped up and into character on my own. See? You just learned something about the life of an actor. Again, you're welcome.
