Yes, it's Saturday morning and I'm doing my weekly blogging. Usually I'm a day or two off in the other direction, not early like this. I'm shaking things up a bit. Since I'm shooting that music video tomorrow, I likely won't have much time to plant myself in front of a computer then, so here I am. Anyway, good morning!
It feels good to be getting ready for a shoot. As an entertainer who isn't getting called in by every production company yet (yes, yet. Give it time.), I'm happy to be on one such company's list for tomorrow. Being an actor can be very discouraging before you "make it big." It takes a lot of time to build a career. All those "overnight stars" you've undoubtedly heard about, those actors who suddenly become popular once they've starred in a popular movie, put YEARS into their careers before getting the recognition they deserve. It's part of the job. Any actor versed in their business can tell you this. Am I complaining? Not at all. I'll be able to use everything I'm learning now for character material at some point down the road. Right now, I'm just happy to know my name's on a call list for tomorrow. It's nice when you're the cool kid. "In grade school I was a complete geek. You know, there's always the kid who's too short, the one who wears glasses, the kid who's not athletic. Well, I was all three." - Julianne Moore

So I'm going to be in a music video this coming weekend. No, not your stereotypical music video bikini girl bimbo (which is totally cool, because it's December, and I am not bikini-ready at this point), but a role of a different sort. More on that when I can give you details.
"Being an actor is a good way to earn a living. And to meet fabulous people." - Gary Oldman It's been another great week, and now I'm coming down from a high after another great audition. The role is just fun. We'll see if I get it, of course, but at the very least, it was a blast playing her for a short while.
"In general, my basic rule of thumb is just act in things you would want to see yourself in. I have a taste for all kinds of movies. Usually, it's a question of whether it will be fun, whether I respect the people behind it, whether I would like to work with them. I'm sure I'm a serious-minded actor, but I still value the frivolity of acting. It's a real exuberant, entertaining thing to do. I never lose track of that." -John Lithgow I'm having a hard-time focusing right now, so I'm going to wrap-it-up here. Before I forget though, Hailey Boyle is doing her last show in NYC for now at Times Square Arts Center, 669 Eighth Avenue, at 10:30pm. She's a good friend of Tim and mine, and she's freaking hilarious, so we're happy to see her rocking-it here! I propose a virtual toast to the success of our friends, all of them. Catch ya later! It's December, so I've started listening to your standard, secularized Christmas/Holiday music. Don't judge me. Decorated firs, lights, and "Santa Baby?" I love that commercial crap. Somebody get me a sleigh.
I'm happy to say that this season is busier, business-wise, than last year's was. I had a good audition yesterday, and I'm getting ready for two more in the next few days. Yes, it will be great when I get to the point that roles are just offered to me automatically, but since I love auditioning, I don't mind this so much for now. Fantastic things ahead, indeed. "When I first got to New York, my feet hit the sidewalk and you'd have thought I was born and raised there. I took over that town. None of my friends took me seriously. I came home and announced, 'I'm going to move to New York,' and they were like 'OK.' Then when I did, they kept waiting for me to fail and come back. But I knew I wouldn't. I was like, 'I'll show you.'" - Jennifer Lawrence I'm going to try to talk Tim into shopping for mistletoe and garland with me now. It's going to start snowing soon. Can you think of better timing? I'm feeling somewhat dazed this week - bewildered, generally befuddled, you know, all that stuff. I'll try to stay on track. This is going to be short. It has to be. I don't think I can focus for that long today.
Had a great shoot yesterday with the "Living In Exile" team. The show is quickly expanding! I'm excited to see where it goes next, because it's fun to hang-out as "Abby." Namaste. Speaking of Namaste, I should do some yoga. It's a necessity right now. Seriously. Actually, I feel like I need to sleep for a week at this point. It isn't going to happen, which is alright. I probably should, though. Just saying. |
