I had two fun auditions in the past three days and am getting ready for another one! Also been teaching a lot of CPR. Really. That, and getting ready for my EMT practical skills final which happens in a week and a half. I'm not stressing though, because I'm thinking all happens in good time. Or I just believe that. Maybe I'm trying to talk myself out of being stressed. Yeah, I think that's it. Okay, Jolynn. Be cool. Everything is fine and you're doing great. Breathe. Actually, that was helpful!
"My only goal is to stay focused on my craft and make sure my life is as sharp as it can be to attack any character that is given to me."
- Michael Kenneth Williams
I had another fun shoot yesterday! Time to get ready for more auditions, CPR trainer work, and EMT classes.
And now for Stephen Sondheim💝:
"The only reason to write is from love. You must not write because you think it's going to be a hit, because it's expedient, or anything like that. It's so difficult to write, it's so difficult to put on a show, you better - if you have the privilege of being able to write it, you write it out of passion. That's what failure taught me." - Stephen Sondheim
I had another shoot yesterday! As always, it was lots of fun and I will post as soon as I have the footage.
Also found out I passed my EMT final. Now I've got a few more weeks of in-person practical skills classes, followed by a practical skills final, and then I can take the New York state exam to get my certification.
An a slightly different note, I've started teaching CPR a few times a week. It seems an easy connection to me between EMT training and acting because of what's involved. Teaching anything is performance on some level!
Top top it all off, I'm going to be doing another shoot next month. Is anybody else tired?
"Whenever I embark on a new project, it always feels like the first time. If it were easy to me and I felt like I knew everything, my acting might have been different. I think the feeling of 'newness' keeps me on my toes and concentrated." - Lee Byung-hun
I just had an audition! Also got a photo back from one of the shoots I did last week:
Now I'm studying for next week's EMT exam. I'd be stressed if I weren't feeling good after doing said audition and last week's shoots!
"But now I'm feeling like I want to try to do some things that I want to do, even though the marketplace is crazy. So I'm trying to figure that out."
- John Turturro
After shooting scenes on Monday and Saturday, I'm feeling satiated through creativity! Now I'm getting ready to model tomorrow, Tuesday, and Thursday, training to teach CPR next weekend, and I'm still training to be an EMT through all of this. Sound like a full enough schedule? #overextended
"I'm a really nervy person, so I need to feel calm and so on. Part of being an actor is to learn about as many people as I can, to take it all on board...and there is a need for me to do that." - Guy Pearce
