I'm still somewhat comatose from Thanksgiving festivities and tryptophan-laden leftovers. I'm happy to sleep-it-off for the rest of the weekend, but I can't wait to get back on set! Sleeping-it-off works pretty well for that, though, too. Jeannine has a lot to sleep-off on a regular basis, so I think I'm headed in the right direction for playing her.

I'm seriously craving turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. I know. Big surprise. For those of you not from the States and/or not familiar with the traditional holidays here, Thanksgiving is on Thursday. On Thanksgiving, turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes are common items served. I would go on a tangent about the irony of making a holiday over one culture invading an already-inhabited land and enslaving and nearly obliterating the people already here, but you probably already knew that. If you didn't know that, now you do. Either way, I'm just about the food right now. It's because I'm hungry. Maybe I shouldn't blog in this state. The topics I bring-up are always going to go back to food.
I had a dream last night that I was playing a role in a film completely different than any I've ever played before. I think it's a sign, and a good one, at that. Back to food, I seriously need to get some turkey. Thursday is too far away. "Occasionally you need to jump off a cliff and do things you know are not immediately within your grasp." - Geoffrey Rush "Gobble gobble gobble gobble." - turkey noises I'm feeling rather distracted. I mean, it's been a good week: Still working on the film, and Tim had another audition. It's just that I'm a bit mentally-fuzzy right now. Instead of a blog post, you are getting an awesome quote and an awesome picture of a flying squirrel. You know, because squirrels are spectacular. Especially flying squirrels.
"I do take my work seriously and the way to do that is not to take yourself too seriously." - Alan Rickman Yes, I know it's technically Monday morning in NYC at this point, and as such I'm 45 minutes late on posting my weekly blog. My counter-argument against this is that I'm operating on Los Angeles/Pacific Standard Time. It's 9:45pm there, so I'm right on time.
Good news in acting on the Carpenter-Schuebel homefront: Tim had a major audition for a role on The Knick! We're both so excited! Go tell him to break a leg, wish him well and what-not. Go ahead. "To be an actor you have to have a certain amount of madness in you. That's why, when people meet you and you seem very together, they are quite surprised--they don't see you behind closed doors." - Nicole Kidman Finished another week of filming, auditioning (Yes, we do that. Actors search-out the next role before the current work is over. What can I say? "Job security" is foreign to us), and watched two fabulous shows with Tim (My Big Gay Italian Wedding and My Big Gay Italian Funeral. They're fun. Go see them).
I'm having so much fun with the role I'm currently playing! She is, of course, a "flawed" character. You know how it is. The damaged ones are my favorite to play. I wonder what that says about me... "With most people, when there's a pain in their life, there's mental scar tissue that forms over the pain and helps you go on living. An actor's scar tissue really never covers over things the same way, not if you're going to be sensitive. With good technique, an actor can do that and walk through life without going insane." - Frances McDormand |
