I just had an awesome audition. The sides were funny, and they expected me to sing a few lines of a pop song. They also wanted me to rap. You read that right. I rapped. Stop laughing.
For originally having a three-audition week, it ended up being a one-audition week. For my first one, I got there to see that they had a ridiculous application to fill out. Let me give you a little lesson in auditions: At any professional audition, you will NEVER be asked to fill out an application. Applications are for part-time, usually minimum wage jobs, not for acting work. You may be asked to fill out a form stating your basic availability to make sure you can come to rehearsals, but that's it. This was not the case for audition #1. We're talking questions like: Is this your first production? What does being in a production mean to you? Would you be comfortable having family and friends come to see you in this production? This is the second audition i went to in the past two weeks where I was given this application to fill out. Feeling like my time was wasted now twice, I walked out. An application like this screams one of two things: This team is either absolutely amateur or it's a scam that's going to soak everyone they "hire" for every dime they have. If it's a scam, they can buzz-off. If this production team is amateur and looking for people who act as a hobby, then great, keep at it, but don't post your casting notice on casting sites specifically for professional actors. Go with Craigslist, and don't try to package yourself as something you're not, okay? Stop it. Nothing as dramatic for the second audition that wasn't meant to be (I just saw that I was already booked for their production dates), but, as stated, it was a no-go. No reason to waste the time of casting directors if I'm not even available for the show dates. Yeah, that's how you make friends in Show Business: "I want to do this! Please pick me! I'm available! Just kidding!" Did you ever notice how lemon yogurt tastes slightly "off?" I mean, it isn't gross or anything. Just somewhat strange. Production is expanding on a webseries I act in. More details to follow on that soon! On another note, winter seems to be here. I tried to hold onto autumn by wearing my autumn jacket despite today's below-freezing tempature, but alas, I've learned it is time to bring out the heartier winter coat. "In Scotland, there's no such thing as bad weather - Only the wrong clothes." - Billy Connolly I'm going to go hangout with Tim now. You kids have fun, and I'll chat with you next week.

Yes, it's 6am Tuesday morning and I'm writing my blog for this past Sunday. My computer has been less than cooperative since this weekend (it's on, but nothing on the screen), so we had to get a tablet. I'm learning how to use this. Bear with me.
I had two auditions this week, and I was offered the role for one if them so far! I unfortunately was already booked for the shoot date, so it was a no-go, but I'm happy the role was mine if I hadn't been. I'm finding my balance, sometimes not happily, but finding it nonetheless. "One of the things you learn as an actor is that human beings are capable of almost anything. I'm sort of in the business of illustrating that fact." - John Lithgow I know it's the middle of the night, meaning it's "technically" really early Monday morning, but as we haven't gone to sleep yet here, I'd say it still counts as Sunday night. Ok? Ok.
I had an audition tonight! That makes three for this week. Tim and I noticed that when we put even just a little more attention into our acting careers, we get so many more auditions. So, yeah, we're going to stick with that. "My line about Arnold Schwarzenegger is that he doesn't get in his own way. He is not apologetic about achieving his goals. And when you have that attitude, it's amazing what one can accomplish." -Claire Danes Now, about sleep... I know Sunday came and went without me posting a new blog entry. My apologies. I had a long work day yesterday, so it slipped by, creatively speaking. I have an audition today, though, so back at it!
Speaking of, I have a script to look over! "I was reading the script in the back of the car and I turned to my dad and yelled, 'I've GOT to get this!' And he replied, 'Then you will.' And I thought, 'Yep, that's it. I'm bloody well going to.' And that was it." - Kate Winslet You said it, Kate. That was it. |
