I know. I know. Sunday passed, and I didn't blog. Still operating on a strange schedule with an overwhelming amount of work to do, but enough with excuses. Tim and I are meeting a casting director tomorrow!

Ok, I know I've been telling you for months that I had some major developments coming up, and now that everything's official, I can tell you: Golden Egg Film Festival (you know, the one I own and run with Tim) has turned into an international film festival in a whole new way. Every May is GEFF NYC. Winners were and will continue to be chosen here. GEFF LA starts in February. Winners will be chosen here, too. GEFF Cancun happens late April to Early May. Again, winners will be chosen. Immediately following GEFF Cancun will be GEFF Worldwide, also taking place in Cancun, where the winners from each GEFF branch will compete with each other for the various best-of awards. This was the plan from the start, but I didn't think it'd come together this quick!
Needless to say, the GEFF has been taking up a lot of my time (Ever own a film festival? Try owning three.), but acting is still my main focus. Tim and I are both meeting with a casting director soon, so great things to come! It doesn't leave much time to sleep, but that's alright. When you first start out as an actor (or any type of freelance entertainer, for that matter), you learn that this is part of the deal for a while. "We know what it is to be underpaid and worked to the bone. So it was just a luxury from beginning to end." - Rhys Ifans on playing Edward DeVere in Anonymous The fact that I whole-heartedly understand this quote goes to show that we all have different definitions of "luxury." Truly spectacular work, Rhys. Tim and I keep dreaming of Mexico. You know, like we're still there. Of course, waking up to sirens and general everyday noise here brings us back to reality (that, and Tim walking into our non-walk-in closet, trying to find the bathroom). I think that's a sign. We always need our apartment here in NYC (My insistence. This is home, after all.), but Mexico is becoming home to us, too. ¡Arriba! See? I'm even practicing.
On another note in Entertainment, this one in acting, I updated my reel. Hopefully I start booking more acting work now, too. Film festivals take a lot of time (not complaining), but acting is my passion. That, and Tim, of course. You already know that, though. Oh! Speaking of Tim again, he just got his reel and new headshots! Now hopefully he starts booking more acting work, too. Then we can work together more. We're a power-couple on every level! "I'm the happiest I've ever been. I'm not going to turn into Gloria Swanson and sit in my mansion watching my movies, with a crazy cigarette holder ... but I feel so blessed to have done the things that I've done." - Wynona Ryder Right there with you, Wynona. Catch ya next week! Late again, I know. I have a really good excuse, though - I was in Mexico. Business trip, and a great one, at that. Just how great? Golden Egg Film Festival (that's the festival I'm the founder of, in case you forgot) is going to be in Mexico now, too! That brings the grand total of festivals to three for 2014 (GEFF NYC, GEFF LA, and GEFF Cancun). More details to come soon. I promise.
"If you are the kind of person who always wanted to see middle aged men in tight spandex trying to sing, then this is the film for you." - Colin Firth on his role in 'Mama Mia!' We all do what we think we need to do to get to the next level. I, however, am not Colin Firth, nor am I a middle aged man who dances in tight spandex and tries to sing, so I'll stick with running a film festival to set me apart. Till next time! |
