I sat in a car seat today. Yes, as in a children's car seat. It was actually reasonably comfortable, believe it or not. I never know what situations I'm going to find myself in day-to-day.
I would say more, but I had a 1am wake-up call, so, mentally, I'm a bit fuzzy right now. "I think real life reflects your movies. In your life, you pick stuff that influences what movie roles you wanna pick. I think if you've got an interesting life, you wanna do interesting movies about interesting things." - Chris Tucker

Tim and I both had auditions this week. It's good to have at least one a week so we feel like we're doing something to move our careers forward.
I edited (and re-edited, then re-re-edited) the short film we shot last Saturday, re-edited Tim's reel, and created Wayne Hudson's reel. I think I'm getting pretty good at it! Keep in mind, though, that I have a massive superiority complex. Hence, you may want to take my inflated self-pride with a grain of salt (or whatever seasoning you choose. Salt is suggested, but I don't think it has a hold on the market). I'm still thinking in German for a good percentage of the time. There must be an amazing film/play/show coming up that requires German-speaking actors. Has to be. Go to it, filmmakers. If not, Tim and I will need to write one ourselves. No complaints, of course. I'm just saying it's happening, one way or another. "If unmedicated, there are times when I am so exuberant, so hyper, that I can go three or four nights without sleeping and I'm writing and I'm doing stuff and I'm so grandiose and so full of self-belief that it's almost impossible to deal with me." - Stephen Fry P.S. - Stephen Fry speaks German, too. Saw that on IMDb. Ich weiss das nicht vor jetzt! We're back from Germany and missing it already. What a beautiful place! Tim and I keep making comments back and forth to each other in German. I think it's a sign that we need to go back again soon.
I directed my first film yesterday. It's a short comedic film that Tim starred in, along with our friends, Wayne Hudson and Melissa E. Carroll, with Will Chatham as Director of Photography (and as the dead body. You'll understand when you see it). Again, like I've heard before, to be the best actor you can possibly be, learn at least something about what everyone else on set is doing. Yesterday, I built up that experience a bit more. "All the new people you meet, it's pretty amazing. The vampire needs new blood. And there is still a lot to learn and there is always great stuff out there. Even mistakes can be wonderful." - Robin Williams I'm getting better at speaking German. In another day or two, I should be able to add "German" as an accent I can accomplish on my resume.
As actors, we have to constantly be learning and bettering ourselves so we can offer more to any project we become part of. This has been a good week of doing such. Actually, all of that applies to anyone in any field. If you didn't already know that, take note. "I always performed when I was a child. My parents got very annoyed, because my brother and I had our little bedrooms upstairs, and I would plaster the house with posters with arrows pointing upstairs." - Franka Potente Found out what a wuss I am this morning. I took a Barre3 class. It's a combination of Pilates, yoga, and ballet barre work. You won't realize what a weakling you are until you try it. Ever held a Warrior 3 post for 1 minute plus, then moved on to new, excruciating poses? WOW. Just...wow...
I have two auditions this week. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Also reading "I Don't Know What You Know Me From," by Judy Greer. It's a great book, especially if you're an actor. Don't get me wrong: I recommend it for non-actors, too. It's just the material is probably more relatable for entertainers. It helps put things in perspective. I know that loads of crazy-great roles are coming soon for both Tim and I. Just need patience! "Arrested Development, that was a one-scene role that I did before the show was on the air, and then they just kept bringing me back and bringing me back and bringing me back." - Judy Greer |
