Yes, it's technically Monday morning, so I'm technically late. I have a good reason, though: Tim and I just got home from seeing King Lear at Shakespeare In the Park. As expected, IT WAS AMAZING.
I'm finishing reading a book by Declan Donnellan, called "The Actor and the Target." It's about an acting technique I haven't personally trained in at this point. I love my Meisner and improv training, but it seems to me that it's always a good idea to learn new things when you get the chance. It gives me something to have in my back pocket to use if need be. "I'm a firm believer in taking risks in life, because you'll never get anywhere unless you do, and the more risk involved the greater the outcome - or the worse, but you never know so you've got to go for it." - Famke Janssen

I've been called for an audition tonight, Tim has been called for two for next weekend, and I've seen two more shows this week that I need to get myself cast on. Looks like I need to get to work!
Also been doing a lot more yoga, working out, meditating, and reading this week. I have a difficult time believing that this doesn't have anything to do with As always, great things ahead! "I throw myself into my work. It's exhausting. It's time-consuming." - Vanessa Williams I'm playing a comedic role in a short film the week after next, I have an audition tonight, and Tim had an audition this week, too! Roles are great, of course, and auditions at least help to keep us creatively satiated. In other words, another good week is coming to a close.
I've also been spending a lot of time getting in-touch with my inner "weirdness" to see how I can use it to expand my creative horizons. I have a very strong feeling that it's all connected. "Acting is no longer about lying. It's now about revealing the truth. People are at ease with me now. Honesty is the best policy." - Sir Ian McKellen Tim booked a role in another short film, and I have two auditions coming up! More details on Tim's role coming soon, of course. I'm always happy to give good news here of any sort. It's a sign we're doing something right.
I've been doing a lot more reading this week. Working on "holidays on ice," by David Sedaris, right now. No, that wasn't an error on my part. The title really is in all lower-case letters. It wasn't an error to start reading that book, either. I mean, come on. It's David Sedaris. Whether or not David Sedaris is the author of whatever book I'm reading at any given moment, though, I really enjoy reading as often as I can. It keeps my creative juices flowing. Rather important for an actor, you know. "Let's face it, we were all once 3-year-olds who stood in the middle of the living room and everybody thought we were so adorable. Only some of us grow up and get paid for it." - Meryl Streep |
