I need to put on a play. The Universe is telling me it needs to be Shakespeare (or Shake-speare, depending on your preference, but that's another story for another time). I'm totally cool with this. I mean, come on - We're talking about the epitome of Classical theatre, and it's writing that so many modern plays and films are at least loosely based on.
Casting it should be easy enough (there's Tim and I, and we have a gaggle of friends who are awesome actors. HA! Gaggle...). Now to choose which play to do, when to do it, and which theatre to perform it in. These are good decisions to have to make. What can I say? I'm clearly in the right field. "What happened is that I ended up getting benched in soccer in high school so I tried out for the school play and I got the lead role. Then I just stuck with it." - Vera Famiga

Another good week comes to a close: Two auditions for me, one for Tim, waiting for my new headshots to be printed, and have nine great books from the library sitting on my desk, waiting to be read.
I get so energized when I read, because I come up with all of these new characters I can play. That certainly makes auditions even more fun when they come up, as I know I'm coming in the door with a character no one else is bringing. "And Now for Something Completely Different" - Monty Python Another great week comes to a close: I had an audition yesterday, Tim had an audition Friday, we both have new headshots (ex.: see photos), and I've been called for another audition for next week.
I'm starting to notice a trend - I get called in to play crazy people often. I'm totally cool with that. I mean, yes, I get called to play various seductresses, too, which is also cool, but crazy is more fun. I already get to play the sultry vixen roles on camera while modeling. I must do a decent enough job of it, considering I'm "old" in the modeling world, plus I'm two inches too short and slightly knock-kneed. "I wasn't going to go far. I'm only 5' 5" and I don't have that look." - Courteney Cox, on her early modeling days Good news from the Carpenter-Schuebel household: Tim is getting ready to play a role in another film! Go ahead. Go congratulate him. I'll wait here. You know the deal.
We shot a couple of scenes this week in Coney Island just for kicks. Yes, that's what actors do for fun - write and act in original pieces. It's an awesome life, if you're into that kind of thing. I am, and so is Tim, so it works for us. "I like the person who commits and goes all in and takes big swings and then maybe fails; who jumps and falls down, rather than the person who points at the person who fell and laughs. But I do sometimes laugh when people fall down." - Amy Poehler This week's film shoot was tremendous! Tim and I are happy to have another short film under our belts, and we can't wait to see the footage. I'll of course let you guys know where and when it will be screened once we have the details.
For other wins in the "Actor" column, I had an audition yesterday, Tim has one for tomorrow, and we both have another one coming up. As I've said so many times before, amazing things are ahead! “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” - Albert Einstein |
