I know. I'm a few days behind posting this week's blog entry. I just ran a film festival. What can I say? It took up a lot of my time. FABULOUS, but time-consuming. Amazing things to come through it, though. I already shot two short films with two of the filmmakers whose films I accepted and am getting ready to do a film with another.
Look who won awards for this year's festival: http://www.prlog.org/12144727-2013-golden-egg-film-festival-award-winners-announced.html I found-out that Stephen Colbert has Tim's birthday. I asked him to return it immediately. Really. Check-it out. Public record. It's on Twitter. I feel like there's more I wanted to update you cats on, but it seems to have slipped my memory. It's probably the lack of sleep from running said film festival. My brain feels like a damp towel at the moment. Actually, it feels like a sponge, but I know if I say "sponge," you'll get the feeling that I can soak up information easily. Not the case at the moment. Maybe you should think of an already soaked sponge. I don't know. I think you get the idea, though. I'm going to sleep. I'll probably do this for the next two-three days. I think I've earned it. Whether I've earned it or not, though, doesn't matter. It's happening, either way. Here's a good quote to end on: "You know, I spent a lot of time out of work. Now I'm trying to make hay while the sun is shining." -Michael Fassbender Now I'm off to make some hay!...after a nap...

I have an audition for NBC. Pretty freaking cool, huh?
I'm also getting ready for the film festival to open on Monday. Yeah. That's just six days away. Panic mode? You got it. Give me a break. This is my first business (other than acting, of course, but that's on a whole other level). Speaking of, if you're reading this, you should seriously come to my festival. I'll even make it easy for you. Just click here. Great films, fantastic after parties, plus I'll be there, as will my dashingly handsome cohort. See? Something for everyone. How many more reasons could you need? Ok, I'm running on somewhere under four hours of sleep, so I think I deserve at least a nap at this point. Till next time, here's a great quote that I think sums up what I'm trying to do: "Looks alone won't get you that far. It may get you in the door, but there's always somebody younger, somebody prettier. You have to rely on something else." - Charlize Theron Thank you, Charlize, for keeping things in perspective. And now for that nap...Catch you guys later! I almost forgot to blog. I know - god forbid. Anyway...
I have an audition tomorrow! Pretty cool, huh? It's for a commercial. I should work on my lines, but I enjoy talking to you guys, so I'll finish up here first. As it's a much more involved role, I'm going to do a modified version of the Method approach to preparing for my role in the feature film I'm going to start within the next couple of weeks. I say "modified" because I will still respond if you call me Jolynn (well, for now. Give it time.), but I'm going to pick up some of her habits. No more details other than that for you right now. You'll just have to wait. I will tell you this, though - if you see Tim, give him a hug or at least buy him something (not a dog, cat, or other small animal, please. Adorable? Yes, but far too much work for the time being). He definitely deserves the Best Supporting award. Considering what I just said, this Nicole Kidman quote seems a perfect fit: "I just feel so fortunate that I have found someone who will put up with me and stay with me." Now I'm misty-eyed. Ok, get it together, Jolynn. Suck it up and work on your lines. All good now! Catch y'all next week. Turns out this film festival thing was a good idea. I'm going to be working with several more of the filmmakers while they're here. I mean, yes, it's an insane amount of work to put together and manage a film festival, but I'm an actor who's now connecting with talented filmmakers, directors, DPs, and other actors who now want to work with me as an actor. It's exciting to start seeing the payoff (you know, the proverbial reaping what you have sown thing). Great things ahead.
...and a great quote: "I'm always looking for an adventure-I try not to work just to work. I always try to find people that are burning to tell a story and then help them do it. I try to avoid anyone that pokes around-filmmaking should be an opportunity to make something that's very thrilling and, you know, exciting. On some level, I'm a sensation junkie." - Willem Dafoe Happy Weekend! God, that was obnoxious. I'm sorry for that. Go ahead. Carry on with your day. I'll get back to doing my thing now. |
