Ah, Cancun. Happy to be here to be here with Tim, happy to be here for the Festival...happy, in general. It's Cancun. What can I say.
Know what'd be fun? To shoot a movie here, too.
"I love doing it." - Danny Trejo on why he works so much
Two auditions this past week, getting ready for another one for this week, and gearing up for Golden Egg Film Festival's first-annual Cancun branch. All this, on top of Tim and I both still having "survival jobs." Am I feeling like crazy-pants right now? You got it. No complaints, though. AMAZING things ahead.
"You meet these people who are confident all the time. They annoy me. And I wonder if it's because I'm envious or if it's because they're shallow." - Guy Pearce
It's ok, Guy. I still think you're fantastic.
I have two more auditions lined-up! One is for a production of Our Town (I'm a BIG Tennessee Williams fan, so just getting the audition was a mini celebration on my end), and the other is for an Australian feature film (I'd say something about putting shrimp on a barbie with a bad Australian accent, but that's just awful).
Tim and I joined a new actors' group, too. It's a place where we can work on our audition materials, offer feedback for other actors, and everyone states and holds themselves accountable for the goals they set. Seems like a good setting to me.
"It seems like the more I live, the more I realize that saying 'yes' is almost never a mistake. If you say no, it might feel safe, but then you end up going nowhere." - Noah Emmerich
I found out I passed the first round of auditions for a promo video I auditioned for, so now I'm going to the second round. That's what the company the promo video is for said. In actor-speak, basically, I got a call-back! If you're unfamiliar with the acting and auditioning world, a call-back is a very good thing!
Still waiting to hear if Tim booked two auditions he did (one we might find out about next week, the other we might not know till the beginning of May), and, as usual, we're always scrambling for more auditions. The actor's life is one of creatively hustling on a constant basis. Would I trade it? NEVER. I know what's coming. You'll see. Just give it time.
I'm having a very hard time focusing at the moment, so I'll close this week's edition here. How about another quote?
"Acting is great. When it works it is so fulfilling. You do the research and work with other talented people who are creative and compassionate and use all your faculties. The ability to express yourself completely is the most wonderful feeling in the world. Each film is a chapter in my life wherein I learn so much more about myself."- Jennifer Connelly
