I'm too tired to think straight, but that's just being whiney, so never mind on that.
I hope everyone reading this is having a happy day
"The only way you can influence your fate is to put your soul into your performance and hope it registers with the audience."
- Adewale Akinnuoye-
Happy Mothers Day to all the mamas, grandmas, aunties, and mamas-in-spirit!
I got my 2nd vaccine yesterday and am happy the side effects are not so bad (I'm tired and my arm hurts). It means this will likely be a day of relaxing at home watching movies, but I'm okay with that. Well, that and playing with Major Buttons. He's insisting that I stop blogging right now and play with him, and that's in-line with my responsibilities as a cat-mom.
"You know, if we put all the colours together it makes it more prettier. Even a rainbow has seven colours."
I got new headshots! Very happy with them and to have gotten to work with the wildly talented photographer, Shana Schnur, to make it happen.
Now I'm getting ready for another audition, then getting my second vaccine shot next weekend.
"I just want to work with good filmmakers and do good projects that mean something to me and play interesting characters. That's really it." - Dylan O'Brien
I'm feeling good after another great audition! Getting ready for a Zoom rehearsal in a few days for a show I will be in when theater reopens this autumn. It's great to see the world coming back here!
"You can't rest on your laurels. Because if you go in there and stink up the room, they go, 'They gave that one an Oscar?'" - Octavia Spencer
I got my first COVID shot yesterday! My reactions have been very mild (I was dizzy for a bit, and now I'm tired and achy), which is excellent, considering that I have a history of anaphylaxis. Not bad at all for me!
Now I'll get ready for an audition... after a nap...
"I'm probably more insane than most people, and less than a lot of others. I'm somewhere in the middle." - Rooney Mara
I have a shoot coming up and I'm almost out of my head with excitement!! Also have another audition to fit into my schedule. Needless to say, I'm sure, I feel my world is getting on track.
"There is a mixture of anarchy and discipline in the way I work. The talent is in the choices." - Robert De Niro
I'm so happy to have gotten to be the 2nd witch in a virtual reading of Macbeth yesterday! Now I'm getting ready for an audition I have for later today. Bring it on!
"I think every day there is some new actress who comes out and inspires me to do something else... like Hilary Swank. After she did Boys Don't Cry (1999), I felt this yearning to go out and be even half as good as she was." - Elisabeth Moss
Did a great shoot this morning, and tomorrow I have another audition. They're great ways to both end and begin weeks!
"I come from a FULL house of storytellers. If they wanted to simply tell you about someone pouring the tea, it would take about ten minutes. They would act out all the parts. I had to kind of jump in there because, as the youngest, if I wanted to get in an opinion, I had to yell and jump and really participate." - Alfre Woodard
Yesterday was full of wonderful things! The morning was dedicated to a great audition and the afternoon to playing Ingrid in a spectacular virtual reading of Peer Gynt. How's that for ending the week on a high note?
"When there's work to do, we look at ourselves, we look to each other, and we step up." - Regé-Jean Page
I'm so happy that I got to act in a virtual theatrical reading! It was a feeling of hope and almost normalcy in midst of theatres still being understandably but sadly closed here in NYC. On top of that, I've been yearning to act in another piece by Shakespeare, so it made acting in Julius Caesar another win!
I'll be performing in two more upcoming virtual classical readings in the next few weeks ("Peer Gynt" for 3/20 at 1pm and the Scottish Shakespearean play which can't be named for 4/3 at 1pm), so I'll post the links to see them as soon as I have them.
How are all of you doing? I can see NYC starting to come back to life, but there's still that feeling of weirdness in the air. We'll all get through it, though. What other choice is there?
"Fame and celebrity doesn't matter to me. The longevity of my career does." - Eva Mendes
